FOOD FOR GREYHOUNDS

I researched what food is GOOD to feed my own Greyhounds and I have broken it into 3 categories for you:

PET STORE PROCESSED FOOD – I have searched online/asked pet store staff.

Basically my rule of thumb is – if you check the product label on the package – if the description

states ‘Complete and Balanced’, in my opinion, these would be a great choice of food you feed your fury friend.

MAKE YOUR OWN –  I will attach the recipe that I used when I first adopted my girls home.

They loved to eat it, but they did not gain weight quick enough, they were too skinny when I met & chose

them and bought them to their forever home. My house.

VET RECOMMENDED PROCESSED FOOD – The vet I chose to look after my girls owns a Greyhound herself.

Royal Canin – ‘Endurance’ or newly named ‘Energy’ was recommended to me – Does only come in 20kg bag, as far as I can tell.

This food did help put weight on quickly and they loved the taste.

FOOD AND DRINKING BOWLS

Greyhounds do have trouble bending down to eat or drink if the bowl is on the floor/ground.

You will see their legs shake or quiver as they try to hold themselves low to eat or drink.

An elevated feed and water bowl is required to allow your pet enjoy their dinner or a refreshing drink of fresh water.

My Greyhounds have 2 Terracotta pots that the large feed bowls would fit into and they elevate the bowl about 30cm.

Below are some elevated food and water bowls I would purchase for my Greyhounds. Click to view details – some do to ship to Australia.

FEEDING/DRINKING
Elevated feed Bowl – Large size (approx. 30cm high would do)
Elevated water Bowl – Holds 1-2 litres of fresh water – clean water daily
Kibble suitable for a Greyhound – Talk to your vet
Tinned meal suitable for Greyhounds – Talk to your vet
